Got some Nookie

My beautiful wife got me a Nook for Christmas and I am sooooo pleased. Here's my initial impression:

Setup: Getting the Nook up and running is very simple. First you charge it fully, which takes about 4 hours, then you're good to go. Without reading the instructions, I was able to figure out the navigation in a few minutes. Easy as pie. The only trouble I had, was connecting to my home wi-fi connection, but that was because the touch pad on the Nook is very sensitive and takes a little getting used, plus my wi-fi password is 26 characters long. Had to do it 3 times to get it right. *lol*

Loading books works easily, especially if you plug into a computer that has them all. Just drag and drop and they appear in your Nook's libary. The only bad thing is, that Amazon kindle books will not work on the Nook (boo, hiss!), but that is because Amazon intentionally made it that way, not Barnes & Noble. The good is, that all other eBook vendors books do work on the Nook.

Reading is super easy. Touch the "my library" icon and your books appear. Scroll down to the book you want and open it and you are reading!!! The screen is clear, crisp and reads like paper. Some PDFs have screwy page breaks, but none of the story is lost and its rare, so I didn't feel it was bothersome.

So, that's it so far... More as I play with it more!

Hypothetical question here: If you could match up any two characters from books, but they cannot be from the same book or series... who would you match up! (if you're a writer, choose one of your characters, but the other must be from someone else's)... Why? What do you think the authors would think?

Fair warning: grab the fans now because the sexual tension between Lilith and Gabriel is intense! Although Lilith is a demon, she has a conscious and actually a decent being. Gabriel is simply a nice guy who happens to be a virgin and must remain so to gain ascension into Heaven. Lilith wants Gabriel, but can’t have him. That doesn’t mean she can’t play with him a bit. Finally, the tension grows to such levels that during the worst time possible, the two of them explode.

Gothic City Lights is definitely an erotic romance where the plot to infiltrate the demon lair is useful in staging Lilith and Gabriel’s relationship. Does the book need this extra plot point? Not necessarily, but the story is much better because of it.

With fantastic sexual tension and great characters, Gothic City Lights is delightfully sinful! Definitely pick up this book.

Another good review

Just got the review back from Smexy Books! I thought this review actually was pretty good, despite only getting 3/5. The negative comments weren't about the romance, which, when writing a romance, the plot of a romance IS the romance. So overall, pretty good I think, especially for a debut. =oP

Almost there!

I turned in final edits today on Gothic City Lights, which now go to final proof. Barring any oversights, it will get laid out for copy. Yeah! Release date is soon, but not yet named. Hehehe. Stay tuned!

More good news. My short story, Diva-licious sold to The Wild Rose Press. I'm very excited to be added to their roster of talented authors!

More news...

I just keep plugging away. I need to be more attentive here as well. So here's a recap of the most recent events.

1. Completed first round of edits for Gothic City Lights. We may need to push out the release date, but it's worth it. The book is tenfold better than when it was first accepted. Loose Id is pushing me, but gently. It's been a great learning experience. I can't wait for it to release, you're gonna love it!

2. Breathless Press has found an audio book partner, so they have picked up audio rights to my short story, The Grass is Always Greener. I hope they decide to produce it. That would be so cool.

3. My free story, That One Night in Vegas, has been selected by Lushstories.com to produce an audiobook in MP3 format, which will be available on their site at a later date. You can read the story here, at Lushstories.com or Literotica.com

4. And last, but not least, I am in contract negotiations for my short story Divalicious... details to be announced once the contracts have been signed. Stay tuned.

But I couldn't wait for the greenlight to share this, but it finally came... I've been staring at it in awe since I got it... Isn't it beautiful??? I know I'm biased... but still... GORGEOUS!

I don't recognize my own work

So I'm up to my eyeballs in revisions for my first novel. My editor is wonderful and she has been so patient with my rookie-ness. But I have to say, its been more than huge event for me.

I've learned soooooo much about writing, my own flaws, strengths, tendencies (both good and bad), in such a short time, its amazing. I know it's not easy to get published, believe me I know, but if you have the chance... Oh wow, the things you will learn about the craft!!!

My editor for Gothic City Lights urged me to tone down some aspects of the book that she felt might detract from its marketability and I agreed. But also, it sparked my hair-trigger muse and I decided,(probably to my editor's dismay) to gut huge sections of the book and rewrite them. But... I feel so amped about it. The revisions are based on the editors suggestions but my muse needed to go several steps further, that I barely recognize the book I submitted. It's already tons better and we're not finished. I can't wait for my beta readers to see the finished book. I think even they will see a completely different book!

Going, going, sold!

Woot! Time to celebrate. I signed a contract on my short story, The Grass is Always Greener yesterday morning with Breathless Press. I'm so happy to be on board with this up and coming publisher. They have been so fantastic and I've only just begun with them. Thanks to Sable Grey for recommending them!

I apologize for not posting in some time. I've been knee deep in edits for Gothic City Lights, which releases in June. But I did have a little item worth mentioning. I received a contract on a short story I wrote. I'm reviewing the terms before I accept (never sign a contract without reading it!), but I love it when I get an acceptance letter. Woot!

Anyways, just needed to share that I received a request for a full on a short story I submitted. *does a jig* Now, its only a short story, so asking for the full is standard, but it does mean they liked the query. So... *fingers crossed*
