So, I'm having a great week. Great month, actually. This month, I've submitted a full length novel to a couple of agents, who I would love to work with.
I also wrote and submitted an erotica short story to a publisher, who I also would love to work with.
And, I'm 3k into another erotica 5k short story! All this, while waiting for my 1st round of edits from my publisher on Gothic City Lights!

Feeling Accomplished
So I finished the rough draft of my short story that my muse demanded I write. Its 4.3k, which is perfect for editing. I should be able to polish it by end of next week and start on a query! Resisting the temptation to carry the story on and on was hard, but I managed! Hehehe. Short stories are hard for me that way.

The Muse doth insist
So, I had one of those nights, where I really, really, I mean really needed a good night's sleep. And of course, the muse decides it's party time. Determined to get much needed rest before I start another week at the coal mine, I ignored the muse. Which, of course, did me no good as it kept me up all night, playing out the plot it wanted to write, in my head until it all was there and the alarm went off.
So now, here in the slave pit, I have 1k written on my break with 4k to go! *lol* It's funny sometimes how the must can overrule sensibility.

How to get published
So, I think every writer gets asked this question. How do you get published?
Well, it's not easy. It's ten times harder than most non-writer folks imagine. Everyone has that friend that says "Hey, I think I'll write a book" and then expect that someone will of course see the brilliance of their writing and want to publish it. I was that friend.
Hehehe. And so I did. I wrote a book, did a quick google search for agents and bombarded them with with the worst query letter in the known universe. Of course, all I received were rejections. Tons of them. But what made me an author is different than most of those friends who set out to write a book. One, I actually finished my book, where 90 percent usually give up somewhere along the line. Two, I took my rejections not with outrage, but as a lesson learned. I then began a whole new book. I researched the industry, found and made contacts with other authors, established reading partners and networked myself until I had a novice's grasp of the industry. Only then was I equipped to even think of parlaying my wares.
So, my advice to anyone asking this question is this. Don't bother unless it's fun. If it's for money, fame, glory, prestige or because you think it's easy, give up now and save yourself the time. If you love writing, write. If you want to be published, read, learn, network, then repeat and rinse as needed until your skill is good enough. But wait, there's more. Once you get that first book out there, keeping reading, learning and networking. And go at it 110% for as long as it remains fun.
Expect harsh criticism, long delays in response of any kind, and huge amounts of flat out rejection. But if you love writing, it doesn't matter. Publication is just the sprinkles on the icing of the cake!

Much ado about writing
So, what does an author do while he or she waits for revisions from their editor on their book?
Write, of course! That's where I'm at right now. I have two works in progress at the moment. The first, Dark is the Night, I have finally finished the last revisions and am preparing my queries. The second, is a spinoff title for my first book, Gothic City Lights, creatively titled, Gothic City Lights: Helena. *lol* Its currently in rough draft and 75% complete. Once you've read Lilith's story in Gothic City Lights, you may recognize Helena, who makes an appearance in that book. but alas, it doesnt release for sometime.
What's my point? None really, except to say that a writer never stops writing. Even while we are waiting for whatever it is we must wait for, we write. And we read. Anyone aspiring to become a writer needs to constantly and consistently do these two things. Read and Write. So there's my tip for the day.
